CASE STUDY 02 / PERSONAL SERVICES

You can't answer a phone with both hands in someone's hair.

BEFORE

The talent was never the problem.

Rob does color correction, balayage, creative color, and the kind of transformations people drive across a metro for. 35 years of it. He founded three salons in New Hampshire before Colorado Springs. Ask anybody who has sat in his chair.

He was running on a booking app and social media, with a solid stack of word of mouth behind him. And he was losing bookings anyway, for one stupid, entirely mechanical reason: he could not get to the phone.

That is the whole thing. When your hands are literally inside somebody's hair, processing color on a timer, you cannot stop to answer a call. So the call goes to voicemail. And the person calling a colorist does not leave a voicemail, they call the next one. Every hour he spent doing excellent work was an hour of new customers finding somebody else.

This is the exact problem that a mover has carrying a couch and an HVAC tech has in a crawlspace. It is the reason this entire company exists.

WHAT I BUILT

Answer the phone first. Then everything else.

01

Missed call text-back

The fix for the actual problem. A call that goes unanswered gets an instant text in his voice, so the conversation starts while he is still working. He does not have to do anything, which matters, because the whole point is that his hands are busy.

02

Appointment reminders and follow-up

Confirmations, reminders, and follow-up running automatically. In a chair-based business, a no-show is an hour of capacity destroyed and you cannot make more hours.

03

A real website

Built to show the work. Services, a gallery that does the talking, and booking that takes one tap on a phone. Color correction is a visual sale, so the site is built around the photographs, not around paragraphs about passion.

04

Google Business Profile and local search

Profile work and local SEO targeting how people actually search for color work in Colorado Springs, which is nothing like how they search for a haircut.

05

Review generation

Automated requests and response handling, so a client who just watched a color correction come out perfect gets asked while she is still looking in the mirror.

RESULTS

Six months, standing start.

  • 6 MO

From booking app to full system

Engagement started February 2026. Site, profile, search, automation, and reviews all live.

  • 35 YRS

    Craft finally marketed like it

Three salons founded before Colorado Springs. The reputation existed. The digital presence did not.

  • 0

    Calls that go nowhere

Every unanswered call now gets an automatic text back in under 30 seconds.

Straight with you: Rob is a working colorist, not a lead-generation case study. I am not publishing his booking numbers or his revenue. What is verifiable is the system, and you can look at his site and his profile yourself.

THE POINT

Why a colorist is on a site built by a mover.

I have never cut hair in my life. I market for the people who do.

Rob is the reason this company stopped being a moving company marketing shop. His problem was identical to the one I had on a ladder holding an 85 inch television, and identical to the one I had dispatching trucks in Orlando. The work uses your hands, so you cannot answer the phone that pays you.

Different industry. Same broken mechanism. Same fix.
