STRIKE 05
STRIKE Lead Follow-Up
The follow-up that closes the job you already quoted.
You quoted it. They said they would think about it. You got busy, three more jobs came in, and you never followed up. That quote is now revenue somebody else collected. Follow-up automation sends the second, third, and fourth touch on a schedule that does not depend on you remembering, in language that does not sound like a machine chasing money.
WHY THIS MATTERS
The money is in the second touch . Almost nobody sends it.
Most owners follow up exactly once, if at all. The quote goes out, the customer goes quiet, and the whole thing gets filed under not interested. That is almost never what actually happened.
What actually happened is that they got busy. They were waiting on a spouse, a paycheck, a closing date, or two other quotes that had not come in yet. Nothing about that is a no. It is a not right now, and not right now turns into somebody else's job the moment a competitor follows up and you do not.
Following up is not pushy. It is the job. The problem is that doing it consistently, by hand, while running the actual business, is something almost nobody manages. So it gets automated, and it stops depending on whether you had a good week.
A quote with no follow-up is a job you did the work to earn and then gave away.
HOW IT WORKS
Persistent without being annoying.
01
Every lead lands somewhere
Calls, texts, form fills, profile messages, and recovered missed calls all end up in one place with a status. You cannot follow up on leads you cannot see, and most owners are tracking this in their head and a pile of texts.
02
The first touch goes out immediately
Confirmation that you got it and when they will hear from you. This one message kills most of the anxiety that makes a customer keep shopping, because the thing people hate most is not knowing whether they were heard.
03
The sequence runs on a real schedule
A structured series of texts and emails over the following days and weeks. Short, specific, in your voice, each one giving them an easy way to say yes or to say not now. Not four copies of just checking in.
04
It stops the second they respond
Any reply pulls them out of automation and hands them to you. Nothing is worse than a customer who booked yesterday getting an automated nudge today. This is the part cheap automation gets wrong and it is the part that makes people hate automation.
05
Dead leads get one last shot
Quotes that never closed get revisited later, when the timing may have changed. A kitchen that was not ready in March is sometimes ready in September. That list is free money sitting in a database most businesses never look at again.
FOLLOW-UP QUESTIONS
Follow-up questions, answered .
Stuff buyers ask before they book.
- How many follow-ups is too many?
- It depends on the ticket size. For a small job, two or three touches over a week. For a large one, more touches over a longer window, because a bigger decision genuinely takes longer. The rule is that each message has to give them something or ask something specific. Nobody minds a useful message. Everybody minds a fourth just checking in.
- Will this make me look desperate?
- Only if the messages sound desperate. Following up on work somebody asked you to quote is professional. Most customers assume you forgot about them, and a well-timed message reads as organized, not needy.
- Does it text or email?
- Both, weighted toward text, because text gets read. Email is better for anything with detail, like a written estimate or documentation. The sequence uses whichever fits the message.
- What if I want to write the messages myself?
- Good. You should have a say in every one of them. I draft in your voice, you edit anything that does not sound like you, and nothing goes live until you have read it. It is your reputation attached to every message that goes out.
- Do I have to learn new software?
- Not really. Replies come to you the way they already do. The automation runs underneath. If you want to get into the dashboard you can, but the system is built so it works whether or not you ever log in, because you have a business to run.
